After over a year of no face-to-face events, we are keener than ever to welcoming our delegates in Venice for the 14 Congress of the European Society of Gynecology.
To ensure congress complies with the highest level of safety standards and wellbeing, ESG aligns with the Italy’s COVID-19 health-related regulations. It’s important that anyone attending the congress in Venice plays a part in keeping each other safe and minimizing the risk from Covid-19.
The information on this page reflects the current Italy Government measures from the Ministry of Health Order. This guidance may change, so make sure to visit this page in the days before the event for any updates.
In addition to this, all those attending the congress in Venice are recommended to visit the National or Local Public Health Authorities sites (country of origin as well as Italy) to stay updated on the latest measures which applies to travellers.
🛬 Entering Italy
Find the most updated information on the official website of the Italian’s Ministry of Health.
Citizens and residents of EU countries, the Schengen area (see LIST C) can enter Italy with only COVID-19 Green Pass without the obligation of quarantine.
They have to provide that:
- They fill in the Passenger Locator Form before entering Italy
- They present the Covid Green Pass (EU Digital COVID Certificate) on arrival in one of the following languages: Italian, English, French or Spanish, showing one of the following conditions:
- having completed the prescribed anti-SARS-CoV-2 vaccination cycle since at least 14 days
- or recovery from COVID-19 (the certificate of recovery is valid for 180 days from the date of the first positive swab)
- or negative molecular or antigen swab test in the 48 hours prior to entering Italy. Children under 6 years of age are exempt from the pre-departure swab test.
- They fill in the Passenger Locator Form before entering Italy
- They present on arrival a COVID-19 Green Pass issued by the Health Authorities their home country, certifying:
- complete vaccination against COVID-19, taken at least 14 days beforehand, using a vaccine recognized by the European Medicines Agency (EMA)
- recovery from COVID-19 and the termination of medical isolation
- negative molecular or antigenic swab test performed in the 48 hours prior to entry into Italy
- fill in the Passenger Locator Form before entering Italy
- present on arrival a negative certificate for a molecular or antigen swab test performed in the 48 hours prior to entering Italy
- undergo fiduciary isolation and health surveillance for 5 days.
- take a new molecular or antigen test at the end of the isolation period.

Entry and transit in Italy are forbidden for persons:
- who, in the previous fourteen days, have stayed or transited in Brazil
- who arrive from or have stayed in the previous fourteen days in India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka
🏢 Attending the congress
Covid-19 Green Pass
Delegates are allowed to attend the congress presenting a Covid Green Pass (EU Digital COVID Certificate or COVID-19 Green Pass issued by the Health Authorities their home country) stating that a person has either:
- been vaccinated against Covid-19
- received a negative molecular or antigenic swab test in the 48 hour priors to access the congress venue
- recovered from COVID-19 (the certificate of recovery is valid for 180 days from the date of the first positive swab)
Delegates will be required to show their Covid-19 Green Pass each time they enter the congress venue. This means that they can be asked to show the Green Pass even more times in the same day. People unable to present the Green Pass will not be admitted inside the venue.
The certification of successful completion of the vaccination cycle must relate to one of the four vaccines approved by the European Medicines Agency:
– Comirnaty Pfizer-BioNTech by BioNTech Manufacturing GmbH
– Spikevax, formerly Moderna by Moderna Biotech Spain, SL
– Vaxzvria, formerly AstraZeneca by AstraZeneca Ab
– Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) by Janssen – Cilag International NV
Certificates must be submitted in one of the following languages: Italian, English, French or Spanish.
Mask and Social distancing
In line with the Italian Government guidelines, in order to prevent the risk or catching or transmitting the virus:
- it’s mandatory to wear a mask when you are indoors (even if you are fully vaccinated)
- it’s mandatory to wear a mask outdoors if you find yourself in a condition that doesn’t allow the 1 metre safety distance to be maintained (this includes for example when standing in a large crowd or queueing for entry)
- whether indoors or outdoors, always keep a distance of 1 metre from other people
Hygiene
Practicing good hygiene is highly recommended to minimize the risk of being exposed to the Covid-19:

- or sanitize your hands using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer
